Chase Hancock - Snags TD in openerHancock had one catch for 17 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 30-25 win over Gardner-Webb.
ImpactHancock may have only had one catch Saturday, but he made it count. The junior tight end linked up with Cam Ransom for the Eagles' lone passing score of the day. He'll look to keep that connection going against Florida Atlantic next week.

Beau Johnson - Snags three passes in openerJohnson had three catches for 25 yards in Saturday's 30-25 win over Gardner-Webb.
ImpactJohnson entered Saturday having caught just six passes in five career games, so his three snags on the day seem to be a sign that Chad Lunsford and crew are ready to involve the tight end more in the offense. A return from presumed starting quarterback Justin Tomlin (academic issues) for a Week 3 clash with Arkansas should provide more indication on what the Eagles' attack will look like this season.

Khaleb Hood - Leads Eagles at WR in openerHood had three catches for 39 yards in Saturday's 30-25 win over Gardner-Webb.
ImpactHood led the Eagles in receiving yards against the Bulldogs on Saturday. He also poured in the team's longest pass play when he hauled in a 24-yard reception. Being a receiver in Georgia Southern's run-heavy attack has its drawbacks, but the junior had a solid season opener. He'll look to find more room to work against Florida Atlantic next week.

Logan Wright - Rushes for 178 yards in openerWright had 26 carries for 178 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 30-25 win over Gardner-Webb. He also added one catch for four yards.
ImpactWith 2020's leading rusher (J.D. King) still being eased back into action after tearing his ACL last November, Wright picked up the slack Saturday. He averaged 6.8 yards per carry and scored a crucial touchdown in the fourth quarter that ended up being the difference in the game. With King's return seemingly imminent, Wright could see a dip in carries moving forward. However, in an offense like Georgia Southern's, you can never have too many running backs.

Amare Jones - Wins first startJones completed four of seven passes for 45 yards and added 19 carries for 98 yards in Saturday's 30-25 win over Gardner-Webb.
ImpactJones got the start for the Eagles at quarterback and ran the offense well despite this being his first look at the pivot position since high school. Though he was used mostly on the ground and shared passing duties with freshman Cam Ransom, the suspension of presumed starter Justin Tomlin for academic issues means that Jones still may factor into the quarterback decision for next week's visit to Florida Atlantic. Tomlin is eligible to return for Week 3 against Arkansas.

Amare Jones - Starting at quarterbackJones is starting at quarterback in Saturday's game against Gardner-Webb, Nathan Dominitz of the Savannah Morning News reports.
ImpactJones served as a running back at Tulane and transferred to Georgia Southern in mid-August. Justin Tomlin (academics) is ineligible for the first two games of the season, so Jones could remain the starting quarterback in Week 2 if he makes an impression in the season opener.
