Impact Rangel underwent season-ending surgery to repair a broken collarbone suffered during Friday's game against BYU. The 6-foot-2 redshirt sophomore got a few opportunities to contribute with the Cowboys this season, throwing for 192 yards (17-of-33), two touchdowns and one interception across four outings, adding on 91 yards on the ground. Rangel will look to recover ahead of next season when Alan Bowman will have exhausted his collegiate eligibility.

Out indefinitely Head coach Mike Gundy indicated that Rangel (collarbone) will be "out a while" after suffering an injury during Friday's game against BYU, per Cody Nagel of 247Sports.com.

Impact Rangel recently earned the starting job after starting the season in a backup role, but appears to be headed for significant missed time with an injury. The redshirt sophomore quarterback suffered the injury on a sack and was later seen with trainers working on his shoulder before being taken to the locker room. Fellow quarterback Alan Bowman filled in for Rangel following the injury and will likely resume his starting responsibilities moving forward until Rangel is able to make his return.

Won't return Friday Rangel (collarbone) has been ruled out for the rest of Friday's game against BYU, Carson Cunningham of The Pistols Guys podcast reports.

Impact Rangel left the game in the second quarter, and after an examination from the team's doctors, the signal-caller was ruled out for the rest of the contest. Expect Alan Bowman to play under center until Rangel is ready to return to the gridiron.

Suffers injury Friday Rangel was forced to leave Friday's game against BYU during the second quarter due to an apparent shoulder injury, Scott Wright of The Oklahoman reports.

Impact Rangel departed the contest and went straight to the locker room, so the signs can't be encouraging for his availability going forward. This means Alan Bowman, who opened the season in a starting role, should recover his role under center, at least from a temporary perspective.

Expected to start Friday Rangel is expected to be named the start for Oklahoma State's matchup against BYU on Friday, per Ashton Slaughter of OColly.com.

Impact Rangel is expected to make his first start of the season against the Cougars in place of senior quarterback Alan Bowman. The redshirt sophomore has filled in for the Cowboys in three games this season, throwing for 141 yards and a single touchdown in that timeframe. It is also expected that redshirt freshman Zane Flores will be second on the QB depth chart ahead of Bowman, who appears to have lost the starting job for the timebeing. Depending on his performance against BYU, Rangel could be looking at extended time at the starting spot moving forward.

Forced into action against WVU Rangel completed 4 of 5 passes for 75 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 38-14 loss versus West Virginia.

Impact Rangel received some playing time after Alan Bowman was benched. Bowman has thrown a pair of picks in three straight games for the Cowboys. Rangel was somewhat effective while completing four of five passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. The score was a 43-yard strike to De'Zhaun Stribling in the fourth quarter of the loss to West Virginia. With Oklahoma State on a bye this next week, they'll have to think long and hard on whether it's going to be Rangel or Bowman starting against a tough BYU defense in Week 8.

Thrust into action in second half Rangel was 3-for-11 passing for 31 yards during Saturday's 22-19 defeat against Utah.

Impact Rangel received some playing time in the second half after starter Alan Bowman was benched due to poor play. Rangel didn't perform much better which resulted in Oklahoma State going back to Bowman. Bowman would throw a pair of touchdowns passes; however, the Cowboys still lost the game to the Utes. With Bowman salvaging the day, it's likely he gets the nod at Kansas State next week.
