Arik Gilbert - Currently not with team Gilbert is currently not with the team for personal reasons, Josh Pate of CBS Sports reports. Impact Head coach Kirby Smart indicated Saturday that Gilbert, "is dealing with some personal issues" and "we hope to get him back soon." The former five-star recruit played his freshman season at LSU before entering the transfer portal with two games left in the season. He accumulated 35 receptions for 368 yards and two touchdowns across eight games prior to that decision. He subsequently committed to Florida before reneging and ultimatly landing at Georgia. Along with schools, the 19-year-old will also be changing positions from tight end to wide receiver in the upcoming season. It is unclear at this time how long he will be away from the team. The Bulldogs' season kicks off against Clemson on Sep. 4.
