Impact Petras attempted a season-high 36 passes as the Hawkeyes rushing corps was limited to just 62 yards across 20 combined carries. As a result, the senior signal-caller was brought down in the pocket five times by the Fighting Illini defense. Petras has now coughed up three interceptions compared to just two passing touchdowns through six games, and the Hawkeyes' level of competition will not get any easier throughout the team's Big Ten West schedule.

Impact Petras finished with the most productive performance of his subpar 2022 campaign, eclipsing 200 passing yards for the first time this season. The senior also tallied his second passing touchdown of the year on a 5-yard completion to tight end Luke Lachey in the waning seconds of Saturday's loss. However, while the quarterback did notch an efficient 67.7 completion percentage, nearly two-thirds of Petras' production came after the Hawkeyes fell down 20-0 early in the second half. The pocket passer will have a tough time reproducing these numbers in more competitive games moving forward.
