Impact Miller's absent from practice the past few days has finally be revealed. The quarterback apparently had thumb surgery, which should keep him inactive for the foreseeable future. With Anthony Richardson tabbed as the starter, Jalen Kitna will presumably fill backup duties for the Gators for the time being.

Impact Miller is set to be the backup quarterback behind Anthony Richardson, but he was not seen in practice when the individual drills were occurring. The third-string quarterback behind Miller, Jalen Kitna, was seen in a non-contact jersey, but it is unclear what kept the sophomore off the field.

Loses out on starting job Head coach Ryan Day named C.J. Stroud the Buckeyes starter Saturday for their opener against Minnesota on Sept. 2, Bill Landis of The Athletic reports.

Impact Stroud was expected to obtain the top job after Day said earlier in the week that he had begun to separate himself from Miller and Kyle McCord in the competition. Miller saw minimal action in an early-season game against Nebraska last year when he attempted two carries for 23 yards. Neither he nor McCord have thrown a live game pass yet and Day mentioned that he has not come to a final decision as to who will be Stroud's backup between the two.
