Impact Garcia was benched during the Pirates' Week 6 loss at Charlotte and that decision has spilled over into Week 8 with Katie Houser making his first start of the season. Garcia has been very loose with the ball this season as he has thrown an interception in every game, totaling 12 through six starts.

Impact Garcia was benched late in the second quarter Saturday shortly after he threw an interception, his 12th through six games this season. Katin Houser played the remainder of the game but did not look good as he completed fewer than 40 percent of his passes. Given how poorly Houser played Garcia likely won't lose the starting job, however he clearly has a short leash due to his turnover issues.

Impact Garcia wasn't necessarily expected to be the favorite to start for East Carolina, as Katin Houser, a Michigan State transfer, figured to have pole position. Still, the Missouri transfer did nothing but impress throughout the Pirates' spring and fall camps, and has parlayed that into winning the starting gunslinger role. It's a good comeback story for Garcia, who hasn't logged a snap since 2022. With the keys to the East Carolina offense, he'll look to put together a career year as a redshirt junior.

Lands at Missouri Garcia announced Thursday that he will transfer to Missouri, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Garcia has found his next destination after announcing his decision to transfer just two days ago. A former top-25 recruit, Garcia should have a real shot to compete for the starting quarterback gig right out of the gates alongside Brady Cook, who his currently recovering from right shoulder surgery. In eight appearances for Miami, Garcia struggled to find consistency, completing 68-0f-115 pass attempts for 803 yards and five touchdowns to go with four interceptions. He'll look to revamp his career at his new home in Colombia next fall while still having three years of eligibility.
