No quarterback appears to be the frontrunner at the moment, but head coach Tony Sanchez said he will make the decision one week before the season starts. McNamara transferred to the program after one season at UTEP where he appeared in two games.

Impact McNamara will transfer to New Mexico State from UTEP. During his 2023 season there, he suffered a concussion that cut his campaign short, and the hope is his health is perfectly restored in time.
