Impact It will be Clemson transfer Chez Mellusi getting the first crack at the carries for the Badgers to start the season instead of Berger, who battled through a leg issue earlier in camp but is healthy now. Berger impressed as a freshman with 5.0 yards per carry and will still be a factor in the Badger offense, but he does not project for a workhorse carry volume for at least the opener.

Impact Berger picked up an injury to his right leg in the beginning of the week but was able to return to practice Friday in a limited capacity and practiced fully Saturday. The redshirt freshman is expected to be the Badgers' workhorse out of the backfield after tallying 301 yards and 5 touchdowns on 60 rushing attempts last season.

Impact Berger had to leave practice early Monday after suffering an injury to his right leg but was finally able to return in a limited capacity Friday. The extent of the injury was never revealed but the fact that Berger is already being reincorporated into practice just a few days later should be telling that the issue isn't all that serious.

Impact It's unclear what kind of injury Berger is dealing with in his leg but it seems highly unlikely he'll return this spring with the Badgers set to conclude spring ball April 30. There has been no indication that Berger's injury will affect him for fall camp as he's in line to lead the Badgers' backfield once again and is expected to take a big leap in year two.
