Maiava moved the ball back down the field and threw his third passing touchdowns of the game when he hit wideout Ja'Kobi Lane for an eight-yard score with 13 seconds remaining. The signal-caller kept the Trojans in it for most of the game, but he ultimately cost the team a chance to win with these two crucial mistakes. Maiava completed 60.2 percent of his passes for 840 yards while scoring touchdowns 10 total touchdowns and committing four turnovers over the final three games of the regular season. He will likely remain under center for USC's upcoming bowl game.

Maiava also lost a fumble on a scramble attempt in the second half, but his first start of the year was still a net-positive for the offense.
