Impact Knighton, who sustained a knee injury that forced his exit in Week 2 against BYU, will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season after undergoing a season-ending surgery. The 5-foot-10 senior was expected to handle a large role for the Mustangs this season after totaling 745 yards and seven touchdowns on 136 carries with SMU last season. In Knighton's absence Brashard Smith will lead SMU's backfield with LJ Johnson Jr. and Derrick McFall set to make contributions.
