Impact After an outstanding junior campaign, Aguilar has struggled in 2024. He's thrown multiple interceptions in four of his nine appearances and has thrown for more than 300 yards twice. Aguilar was especially disappointing Thursday, turning the ball over on each of App State's first two drives to put the Mountaineers in an early hole. He'll have a bye week to clear his head before playing James Madison on Nov. 23.

Impact Appalachian State's home city of Boone, North Carolina is one of many areas expected to be affected by Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm that has made its way around the Southeastern part of the United States. For safety precautions, App State will not play Saturday, pushing the school's next game to Oct. 5 at Marshall instead. Before Thursday's game, Aguilar averaged 321.3 passing yards per game with seven total touchdowns. Even with the substandard outing, Aguilar leads the Sun Belt in passing yards and is tied for the fourth-most passing touchdowns in the conference.
