Anointed starting quarterback UCF head coach Gus Malzahn announced Sunday via his personal Twitter account that Plumlee will open the season as the Knights' starting quarterback. Impact Plumlee, an Ole Miss transfer, beat out incumbent Mikey Keene for the top spot on the depth chart. Though the athletic, six-foot, 200-pound Plumlee saw most of his action at receiver last season at Ole Miss while eventual third-round draft pick Matt Corral served as the Rebels' starting quarterback, Plumlee saw extended action under center early in his college career. During his time in Oxford, Plumlee completed 53.8 percent of his 158 throws for 6.2 yards per attempt and 5:3 TD:INT while carrying 188 times for 1,189 yards and 12 touchdowns. His rushing ability in particular should make him an appealing fantasy asset in what should be an up-tempo UCF offense.
