Intends to enter portal Hoover intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Hoover will search for a new team ahead of his final year of eligibility. The junior quarterback finished the 2025 season with a 65.9 completion percentage for 3,472 yards with 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He'll likely now not play in the Valero Alamo Bowl versus USC on Dec. 30. Hoover will be a coveted player in the portal, as projects to have the most total passing yards (9,629) and touchdown passes (71) of any quarterback in the sport expected to return in 2026.

Big performance in season finale Hoover was 19-for-22 passing for 306 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 45-23 win against Cincinnati.

Impact Hoover saved his best for last as he threw for four touchdowns in an impressive win against the Bearcats in the regular season finale. It was the fifth time this year that he's gone over 300 yards passing in a game. He'll have the opportunity to build on what has already been a great year in a bowl game for the Horned Frogs. With a single touchdown in the bowl game, Hoover will set a career-high in total scores as he currently has 29 through the air and two on the ground which matches the 31 touchdowns he had during the 2024 season. Hoover has averaged 34.4 passing attempts per game, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him go high volume in the bowl.

Impact Hoover helped the Horned Frogs land their first road win over a ranked opponent since 2022. Impact Hoover threw multiple interceptions for the fourth time this year as he struggled to get anything going in the passing game at BYU. The 10 completions were a season-low by a longshot and that's surprising when you consider the Horned Frogs were trailing 27-10 at halftime. They were clearly outmatched by the Cougars' defense. Hoover and TCU will try to forget about this performance when they play at Houston next week.

Attempts 50 passes in loss Hoover completed 34 of 50 passes for 319 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during Saturday's 20-17 loss versus Iowa State.

Impact Hoover attempted a season-high 50 passes against Iowa State; however, it wasn't enough as the Cyclones pulled out the win after returning a punt for a touchdown late in the game. Although the talented QB aired out the ball, he threw a couple of costly interceptions early in the game. It's the third time in the last six games that he's thrown a pair of interceptions. Hoover has averaged 37.2 passing attempts per game and has been one of the best in the nation with 23 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He'll go up against an even better defense next week when TCU plays at BYU.

Impact Hoover avoided turnovers and toughed out a wire-to-wire win at West Virginia that was closer than anticipated. It was just the third time this year that Hoover did not record an interception or lost fumble. The Horned Frogs are dealing with some injuries with their offensive playmakers which caused them to sputter in the third quarter.
