Impact After appearing in nine games for Colorado in 2022 and completing just 44.3 percent of his pass attempts for 1,220 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions while adding another score on the ground, Shrout was likely to see his opportunities take a hit had he stuck around with the Buffaloes in 2023 under first-year head coach Deion Sanders. As such, Shrout chose to enter the portal shortly after Sanders' hiring and has now settled at a new home in Arkansas State, where he should have a better chance at emerging atop the depth chart for the Red Wolves, who went 3-9 and ranked No. 118 in total offense last season. Shrout will arrive at Arkansas State with at least one year of eligibility remaining, and he could be granted an additional year if the NCAA grants him a medical redshirt after he missed the entire 2021 season due to a torn ACL.
