Productive versus Houston Christian Barnes had 12 rushes for 64 yards and one touchdown and caught 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 45-7 victory versus Houston Christian.

Impact Barnes had his first productive game of the season Saturday as he rushed for over 60 yards and scored his first touchdown of the season. He could have done a lot more too, but he was one of four running backs to receive over six carries due to the blowout. He appears to be the lead back in the Roadrunners' committee, and should be able to produce more consistently versus weaker defenses in conference play.

Rough start to season Barnes recorded four rushes for 22 yards and gathered in their only target for 13 yards during Saturday's 28-16 win versus Kennesaw State.

Impact While Barnes started Saturday's opener, he received fewer carries than both Robert Henry and Rocko Griffin and lost a fumble in the second quarter. It was a rough start to the campaign for him coming off back-to-back productive seasons with the Roadrunners. Although he is still presumably the starter, both Robert Henry and Rocko Griffin are likely to cut into his workload which hurts his value moving forward.

Plays three snaps in win Barnes played three snaps and did not record a carry in Friday's 49-21 win over USF.

Impact Barnes seemed good to go ahead of Friday's contest but only ended up playing three snaps. He also missed last week's game as a precaution. His limited usage could have been another precaution, as the Roadrunners' biggest game of the season -- Friday at Tulane with a chance to go to the AAC Championship Game -- is just around the corner.

Finally back on track Barnes compiled 16 carries for 129 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 37-29 win versus North Texas.

Impact After six consecutive games without 100 yards rushing, Barnes broke out for a season-high 129 yards and two touchdowns Saturday. It was a much-needed performance for him as he has had a much quieter season than was expected for him. Still, four different Roadrunners had at least 10 carries Saturday and while Barnes led the way, so much of the work in the running game is not going to him.

Shut down in win Barnes notched seven rushes for eight yards and hauled in their only target for 14 yards during Saturday's 41-27 win over East Carolina.

Impact Barnes recorded his fewest carries and yards in a game since Week 6 last season where he played 16 snaps and did not receive a single carry. No one on the team had a particularly great day on the ground, besides Rocko Griffin who had 80 yards on five carries, 69 of which came on one run. Still, five different Roadrunners received four or more carries, and the backfield is turning much more into a committee than it was last season. Barnes has not run for over 100 yards since Week 2, however his next three matchups are all very favorable.

Slower day in win Barnes accrued 10 carries for 56 yards and caught three passes for 10 yards during Saturday's 36-10 victory versus Florida Atlantic.

Impact Barnes took a back seat in Saturday's win with Robert Henry and Rocko Griffin both outshining him. All three backs had at least 10 carries for at least 50 yards, but Barnes was the only one without a touchdown. It does not appear that he is at any significant risk of losing his starting job, but it's clear that both Henry and Griffin are rotating in which limits Barnes' overall workload.
