Impact Once the 2023 Hawkeyes' leading rusher, Williams saw a demotion and his role significantly diminish during 2024, a year in which he has barely averaged more than one yard per carry. The running back will redshirt this year with an intent to play one more season of college football in 2025.

Impact It's unclear what exactly the injury Williams is dealing with is, but it's severe enough that Iowa knows it'll be without it's big-play running back early in the week. The Hawkeyes' backfield is stacked with Kaleb Johnson and Kamari Moulton, both of whom should see an uptick in snaps this week with Williams out. His next chance to play will come in Week 6 against Ohio State.

Impact This is big news for Iowa, as Williams is set to be one of the Hawkeyes' top backs alongside Kamari Moulton. Last season, Williams ran for 821 yards on 170 carries, and he'll return for what should be a productive senior season.
