ImpactWestern Kentucky struggled offensively, and Messer's numbers suffered. Things should pick up next week against Liberty, but there is a reason to be concerned about Messert as WKU's number-two guy. He's only been targeted 14 times over the last four games.

ImpactThese numbers aren't remarkable, but within the context of WKU's performance in this one things look better. Johnson led the Hilltoppers in receiving yards and also tied running back Elijah Young for the lead in catches.

ImpactThese aren't good numbers, but Young scored the only touchdown for the Hilltoppers and led the team in rushing. Western Kentucky really struggled offensively in this matchup, but Young did what he could. That includes hitting 30 receptions on the season.

ImpactDuring the week WKU announced Veltkamp would remain the starting quarterback even with TJ FInley healthy. Then, he went out and had his worst game of the season. Maybe the Hilltoppers will rethink that vote of confidence?

ImpactThe Bulldogs had 12 completions for 66 yards total, so Edwards was clearly the focal point of the passing game. He was, in essence, the entirety of the passing game. That yardage total is a concern, but Edwards has four 100-yard games so this could prove anomalous in terms of total passing yards for the team.

ImpactGivens was injured to start the season, so this may be his first 100-yard game, but that's in only six games played. However, he also averaged only 2.3 yards per carry over the previous three contests.

Omiri Wiggins - Does well on limited carriesWiggins ran nine times for 70 yards and had two catches for 11 yards versus WKU on Saturday.

ImpactThe 7.8 yards per carry is nice, though the nine carries is not ideal for production. He and Amani Givens essentially flipped roles, and givens ran for 103 yards, so it will be interesting to see how the last couple games of the season go. Although, next week against Arkansas will likely be tough for both Wiggins and Givens.
