Impact At least in 2023, Lainez logged counting stats that year. That was not the case in 2024, even with the quarterback position occasionally being a problem for Iowa's regular season then.

Lainez is unlikely to see the field this weekend, but his availability as a reserve option should offer Hawkeyes' fans some comfort with Iowa very short-handed at quarterback the last few weeks.
