Out for 2023 season Gabbert (leg) is out for Miami (OH)'s 2023 season, Jack Schmelzinger of The Miami Student reports. Impact Gabbert had a rod inserted into his right leg via a surgical procedure, which will prematurely end his 2023 season. He completed 111 of 188 passes for 1,634 passing yards and a 14:5 TD:INT ratio across eight games. Gabbert also fared well as a rusher, concluding this year with 49 carries for 140 yards and two touchdowns. But now that Gabbert is out indefinitely, Aveon Smith will be Miami (OH)'s quarterback for the time being. The former has one more season of collegiate eligibility remaining. Should the redshirt junior use it and recover properly, Miami (OH)'s football team is expected to welcome him back as its starting quarterback with open arms.
