Tosses pick-six in relief duties Alaimo was 4-for-11 passing for 37 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Monday's 63-7 loss against LSU in the Citrus Bowl. He also had five rushes for 15 yards.

Impact Alaimo took over under center after Purdue went down 42-0 midway through the third quarter. Sixth-year senior Austin Burton was inserted as the team's starter with season-long starter Aidan O'Connell opting out in preparation for the 2023 NFL Draft. Alaimo threw an interception to LSU safety Greg Brooks on his first passing attempt of the game. The Boilermakers then either punted or turned the ball over on downs with Alaimo in at quarterback over the next four offensive series. The redshirt sophomore was then also pulled for graduate senior Jack Albers late in the fourth quarter. Alaimo will likely reprise a backup role heading into the 2023 season after Texas transfer quarterback Hudson Card committed to Purdue on Dec. 26.
