Impact Edwards found the end zone on a seven-yard run in the second quarter, giving the Wolverines a 14-3 lead. The Don has had a disappointing start to the 2024 season, totaling just 150 rushing yards and a single score through the team's first three games on 4.2 YPC. Fellow running back Kalel Mullings far outpaced Edwards on the day, logging over 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground despite less touches. Mullings will likely continue to get opportunities in the ground game moving forward, though Edwards' big-play ability will likely continue to earn him touches throughout the season. A big-time matchup against USC to open up conference play awaits on Saturday.

Impact Mullings was very efficient in his opportunities against Arkansas State, averaging 10.2 YPC on the day. The senior running back also found the end zone for the first (and second) times this season, on runs of 30 and five yards in the first and second quarters, respectively. Though fellow running back Donovan Edwards saw more touches on the day, Mullings was the more productive of the two, nearly doubling up Edwards in terms of yardage on the ground. A fair split between the two is likely to continue moving forward, but Mullings will continue to get opportunities given the production he is clearly capable of. A home test against USC to open the conference season awaits on Saturday.
