Chase Cunningham - Competing for starting job Cunningham (lower leg) has been in the mix for Middle Tennessee's starting quarterback role this offseason, Steve Helwick of SBNation.com reports. Impact Cunningham returned to the field this spring after suffering a season-ending lower leg injury in late October. The graduate senior signal-caller started five of his eight games before going down against Southern Mississippi in Week 9, completing 62.5 percent of his 176 passing attempts for 1,318 yards and a 16:3 TD:INT ratio while adding another 118 yards on 44 rushes. Either Cunningham or sophomore Nicholas Vattiato figure to step in under center for the Blue Raiders against James Madison on Sept. 3.
