Commits to Texas Tech Griffis has committed to Texas Tech, Rivals reports.

Impact Griffis logged 1,553 passing yards and 11 touchdowns during 2023, his best and last year as a student athlete before temporarily retiring for an undisclosed reason. Currently, Texas Tech's top-two quarterbacks are Behren Morton (shoulder) and Will Hammond. Griffis will have to hope for a lot to be the Red Raiders' starting QB, including an excellent Morton suffering shoulder setbacks and a much less experienced Hammond not performing well during their bowl game against Arkansas on Dec. 27.

Eligible and looking for new school Griffis is eligible to play football in 2025 and is looking for a new school, Pete Nakos of On3 reports.

Impact Griffis announced his retirement from football back in June, but his latest update indicates plans have changed. In 2023, he logged more than 1,500 passing yards and 10 total touchdowns, establishing himself as starter-worthy for a potential team. Griffis will spend the remainder of 2024 looking for that team, a process that could make its way into the first half of the 2025 year.

Impact After struggling over the past four games, Griffis had a much better day as he threw for over 200 yards for the third time on the season and also cashed in his first two rushing touchdowns on the year.
