Impact The Aggies are relying on the run game early, because Parker Awad isn't cutting it at quarterback. McGown, a four-star recruit at Oklahoma forever ago by college standards, seems to have stepped in as the best back NMSU has. Through two games he has averaged 5.9 yards per carry and notched three TDs.

Impact Three touchdowns is good! Here are a few things that are not good. One, completing 40.9 percent of your passes. Two, totaling minus-20 yards on the ground. Three, losing a fumble. Awad was a disaster in NMSU's opener, so don't get too enthusiastic about three scores.

Impact After transferring from Buffalo, Washington started the 2024 season as NMSU's top back. It looks like the Aggies will be brutal throwing the ball, so there should be plenty of carries to go around. The problem for Washington is 2.8 yards per tote against an FCS defense won't cut it.

Impact McGowan was a four-start recruit for Oklahoma and played well as a freshman, but that was in 2020. After that, serious legal issues put his college career on hold until they settled. Now, four years later, he's back playing, and if he still has four-star skills, he could be one of the best backs in Conference USA.
