Impact Vattiato has one rushing touchdown and seven rushing yards total on the season, so don't take much from that. He's also only thrown for 10 touchdowns against seven picks. Vattiato likely will finish out the season as the starting quarterback, but expect changes to the roster in the offseason.

Impact Vattiato has held onto the starting job through a coaching transition from last season to this one, but his performance has regressed. He's thrown nine touchdowns against five picks, and after rushing for 397 yards and two touchdowns last year he has lost yardage on the ground in 2024.

Impact The Blue Raiders won, but for that you can thank the incompetence of the Owls offense. Vattiato has more games with zero touchdowns than games with multiple touchdowns, and he's barely keeping the offense moving as he's averaged 7.5 yards per attempt.

Impact This is Vattiato's second game on the year with multiple touchdowns. On the other hand, he's thrown a pick in five out of six games this season, and also lost three fumbles.

Impact Barely eking over 120 yards on 33 attempts and having more turnovers than touchdowns aren't going to cut it. Vattiato did play well against WKU, and that is a conference opponent, so that may buy the incumbent QB some leeway. However, head coach Derek Mason did not recruit him, and he may be willing to move on.

Impact This is a nice bounce back for Vattiato, who reasonably struggled against Ole Miss last week. He was efficient and threw for a ton of yards, even with the pick. Vattiato does have an interception in every game, though, and he threw 13 of them last season.

Struggles against Ole Miss Vattiato went 21-for-33 for 209 yards and an interception against Mississippi on Saturday, and he also lost a fumble.
Impact Ole Miss is lauded for its offensive talent, but it also has an SEC defense. Vattiato's job is not at risk, and the competition gets easier going forward (though a trip to Memphis is on the horizon).

Impact This game featured perhaps the longest weather delay on a Saturday filled with them, and it was also the first game with Derek Mason as head coach. As such, some bumps in the road were to be expected. Vattiato, the incumbent QB, didn't play great, but it is notable he was allowed to drop back and throw the ball 35 times by a defense-first head coach.

Impact This is a bad note for Vattiato to end the season on. He took over as MTSU's starting quarterback this year, and while he still has eligibility and will be in the running for 2024, it wouldn't be surprising for another quarterback to be in the running for the gig.
