Ready to go for season opener Vedral (ankle) has been regularly participating in Rutgers' preseason practices and is on track to start at quarterback in the team's Sept. 2 season opener versus Temple, Chris Ise... Impact Vedral wasn't 100 percent for the spring while he recovered from a left ankle injury he sustained during the 2020 regular season, but Rutgers never had much doubt about his availability for preseason camp. After completing 61.8 percent of his passes for 5.7 yards per attempt and nine touchdowns while adding 193 yards and another score on the ground, Vedral hasn't had to compete for the starting job in camp. Instead, head coach Greg Schiano is using the team's remaining practices to evaluate Evan Simon and Cole Snyder for the No. 2 role.
