Roderic Burns - Catches TDBurns caught six passes for 114 yards and a touchdown against NW State on Saturday.
ImpactThis was a strange game. The top three receivers on the UNT depth chart did not have a catch in this game. Instead, Burns led the way. It's only one game, so we shouldn't overreact, but this is definitely a weird turn of events.

Isaiah Johnson - Rushes for TDJohnson rushed 11 times for 48 yards and a touchdown versus NW State on Saturday.
ImpactThe freshman got a little taste of action in a blowout and he did a solid job with it. However, college veteran DeAndre Torrey had a huge game and really shouldered the load, and he should be the primary back this season. Johnson will provide a change of pace.

DeAndre Torrey - Has huge gameTorrey rushed 25 times for 244 yards and three touchdowns versus NW State on Saturday. he also caught one 12-yard pass.
ImpactTorrey decided to make use of his extra year of eligibility and he wasted no time making the most of it. The North Texas passing game couldn't get anything done in this game but Torrey tore through the defense. He might be shouldering the load a lot this season, which would be good for fantasy players.

Jace Ruder - Struggles in startRuder went 10-for-21 for 131 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against NW State on Saturday. He also rushed three times for 23 yards.
ImpactRuder won the starting role this offseason, but he might have already lost it. These are bad numbers in any matchup, but against an FCS team? Don't be surprised if Austin Aune starts next week against SMU.

Austin Aune - Starting season on benchAune will begin the season as a backup Saturday versus Northwestern State, Brett Vito of the Denton Record-Chronicle reports.
ImpactAune completed 54.6 percent of his passes last year for 1,650 yards and a 13:4 TD:INT ratio while splitting time with Jason Bean. While Bean has transferred away from the Mean Green, the team also added Jace Ruder from North Carolina, who will get the starting nod, though that doesn't rule out the possibility that he will also see some time under center.

Jace Ruder - Draws start for Week 1Ruder will start Saturday against Northwestern State but Austin Aune will see playing time as well, Brett Vito of the Denton Record-Chronicle reports.
ImpactThe North Carolina transfer has seemingly won the job, at least to begin the season. North Texas isn't fully committing to that yet, however, as Aune will get playing time in what should be a tune-up game for the Mean Green. Whoever performs best will have a strong chance at getting the nod against SMU in Week 2.
