Backup role against New Mexico Thorne has been designated as the Tigers' backup for Saturday's matchup with New Mexico, Justin Hokanson of On3.com reports. Impact Thorne had the worst outing of his career in an ugly loss against the Golden Bears in Week 2, and the team has decided to pivot away from their captain, giving the start to redshirt freshman Hank Brown against the Lobos on Saturday. Thorne has started in 15 games across two seasons with the Tigers, throwing for 2,242 yards (189-of-314), 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, adding on 607 yards and five scores with his legs. The senior quarterback has struggled to find his footing with Auburn to start the 2024-25 season, but he is likely to regain the starting spot should Brown struggle.
