Kaytron Allen - Leads rushing attack Week 7Allen notched 16 carries for 56 yards and one touchdown and hauled in their only target for nine yards during Saturday's 33-30 overtime win versus USC.
ImpactAllen logged at least 16 carries and scored a rushing touchdown for the third game in a row. The 220-pound junior logged a one-yard rushing score in the first quarter, and he once again logged a team-high in carries despite the return of star running back Nicholas Singleton, who logged 11 rushing attempts after missing last week's win with an illness. The Nittany Lions has been far from perfect still this season, but Allen has still been a consitent piece for new offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki with 90 carries for 423 rushing yards through six games. His next chance to keep toting the rock will come in another road game versus Wisconsin on Saturday, Oct. 26.
OCTOBER 13ROTOWIRE
Nicholas Singleton - Totals 26 rushing yards in OT winSingleton accrued 10 carries for 26 yards and reeled in all four targets for 39 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 33-30 overtime win over USC.
ImpactSingleton was not featured in his return to action after missing last week's game with an illness. Instead, fellow junior Kaytron Allen led the way with 16 carries for 56 rushing yards, including a one-yard touchdown. Singleton still got on the board with a 14-yard touchdown reception on a wide open check-down pass with just under three minutes remaining. While he failed to eclipse 100 total yards for the first time this season, Singlton's increased usage in the passing game clearly shows that he is one of the team's top offensive playmakers alongside tight end Tyler Warren, who caught 17 of 20 targets Saturday. The Nittany Lions will have a bye week before heading on the road again to face Wisconsin on Saturday, Oct. 26.
OCTOBER 13ROTOWIRE
Quinten Joyner - Scores twice versus Penn StateJoyner totaled three carries for 82 yards and one touchdown and caught all two targets for 12 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 33-30 overtime loss versus Penn State.
ImpactJoyner had a breakout performance after being used sparingly through the first five games of the season. The redshirt freshman scored the first touchdown of the game when he kept the ball on a fake reverse handoff before sprinting untouched for a 75-yard touchdown. He then caught his first receiving touchdown of the season on a nine-yard hookup with Miller Moss early in the second quarter. Joyner's most-productive outing of the season came in a lopsided win versus Utah State in Week 2. Otherwise, Mississippi State transfer Woody Marks has commanded the workload out of the backfield, including Saturday when he logged 20 carries for 111 yards. Expect Joyner's production to come back down to earth when the Trojans head out to Maryland this coming Saturday.
OCTOBER 13ROTOWIRE
Woody Marks - Logs another 100-yard outingMarks tallied 20 carries for 111 yards and caught 2 of 3 targets for 44 yards during Saturday's 33-30 overtime defeat against Penn State.
ImpactMarks rushed for over 100 yards for the fourth time in the last five games. The fifth-year was held out of the end zone for the third time in the last four games. Instead, No. 2 running back Quentin Joyner scored a 75-yard touchdown on a trick-play jet sweep before catching a nine-yard score, both of which came in the first 20 minutes of the game. Nevertheless, Marks still accumulated 22 touches to just five for Joyner. Marks' consistent and efficient work over the first four weeks of Big Ten play should keep him firmly planted as the Trojans' bell-cow back moving forward.
OCTOBER 13ROTOWIRE
Miller Moss - Throws two TDs in OT lossMoss completed 20 of 34 passes for 220 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during Saturday's 33-30 overtime loss to Penn State.
ImpactMoss didn't have a huge role in building the Trojans' lead by the end of the first half, as running backs Woody Marks and Quinten Joyner starred. Moss still found the No. 2 running back Joyner for a nine-yard touchdown in the second quarter and wideout Kyron Hudson (arm) for a five-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The senior quarterback then threw an interception with about seven seconds remaining, and threw two incomplete passes in overtime. Over four games against conference opponents, Moss has completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 1,011 yards and nine touchdowns to five interceptions. USC's offense still features plenty of talent, and Moss has shown capable of piloting this unit as a productive passer. The Trojans' offense will look to bounce back against a reeling Maryland squad in Week 8.
