Impact Yarnell was solid in Holstein's place last week, completing 63 percent of his passes for 350 yards last week against Clemson. Yarnell, a redshirt junior, has appeared in six games this year, completing 62.7 percent of his throws for 664 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.

Eli Holstein - Cleared for Saturday Holstein has been cleared to play in Saturday's game at Louisville, however the team has not yet decided on a starter, Stephen Thompson of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Impact Holstein was held out of last week's game due to a head injury and following Nate Yarnell's productive performance, head coach Pat Narduzzi has yet to make a decision on who will start versus the Cardinals. Holstein will likely have the edge, but Narduzzi seems to be holding his decision close to make it more difficult for Louisville to prepare.

Impact With two games remaining in Pittsburgh's 2024 regular season, they will be played without Carter. As for him, this will effectively end his collegiate career. The senior played eight games in 2024, during which he logged career highs in rushing yards (208) and total touchdowns (five).

Impact According to an earlier post from Carter, Lee suffered an injury to his right leg during Pitt's game Saturday against Clemson. After the matchup, he was ruled out for his 2024 season. It saw him log a significantly less output than his 2023 season, though that was expected following his big jump in competition. Still, Lee recorded almost 20 receptions for over 250 yards and several touchdowns.

Gavin Bartholomew - Hauls in TD in loss Bartholomew recorded four receptions (on six targets) for 32 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 24-20 defeat versus Clemson.

Impact Bartholomew's second touchdown of the season - also his second in as many weeks - gave Pittsburgh a late-game lead it wold ultimately relinquish in a defensive collapse. Still, the tight end proved to be a valuable target for new quarterback Nate Yarnell, a good sign that he'll remain involved no matter who the signal-caller is in Pittsburgh.

Konata Mumpfield - Five catches in loss Mumpfield totaled five receptions (on eight targets) for 58 yards during Saturday's 24-20 loss versus Clemson.

Impact Mumpfield was considered questionable heading into Pittsburgh's game with Clemson, but the receiver played and caught five passes. He wasn't explosive with a new quarterback, Nate Yarnell, throwing him the ball. Still, his targets remained right around his season average and no matter who the signal-caller is in Pittsburgh, Mumpfield will get plenty of looks.

Raphael Williams Jr. - Racks up targets in loss Williams reeled in 7 of 15 targets for 68 yards during Saturday's 24-20 loss versus Clemson.

Impact Williams' 15 targets were easily the most he's seen all season. While he didn't have the most efficient day with all of those looks, it's notable that his spike in targets came with a new quarterback, Nate Yarnell, under center. If Yarnell gets the start once again this week, it's feasible that Williams could once again dominate the target share for the Panthers.

Desmond Reid - Another big day through the air Reid recorded 14 carries for 68 yards and caught 10 of 13 targets for 108 yards during Saturday's 24-20 loss against Clemson.

Impact Reid logged his third 100-yard receiving performance this season. While he was somewhat bottled up on the ground, the star tailback found a way to make an impact yet again. Given his two-way ability as both a runner and receiver, it's nearly impossible to completely contain Reid.

Nate Yarnell - Solid in first start Yarnell completed 34 of 54 passes for 350 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 24-20 defeat against Clemson. He also had 10 rushes for -20 yards.

Impact Yarnell didn't represent much of a downgrade from injured starting quarterback Eli Holstein, especially given the latter's struggles as of late. He nearly led Pittsburgh to the upset win if it wasn't for the defense completely breaking down on Clemson's go-ahead scoring drive. Holstein's status remains unclear for Saturday against Louisville, but Yarnell looks like a very capable replacement.

Eli Holstein - Still not cleared Holstein (head) is still not cleared from protocol, Jerry DiPaola of TribLive.com reports.

Impact Being wary of a concussion, Pittsburgh's team still needs at least a bit more time to determine an official status on Holstein. The team's 2024 regular season will conclude with consecutive road games, vital to the Panthers clinching a significant bowl game in postseason play.
