Ryan Browne - Lights it up in OT lossBrowne completed 18 of 26 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's 50-49 overtime defeat against Illinois. He also had 17 rushes for 118 yards.ImpactBrowne made his first career start with Hudson Card sidelined by a concussion. He and the entire Boilermakers' offense came to life in the third quarter after totalling nine passing yards in the first half. The redshirt freshman hit touchdown passes of 53, eight and 13 yards in the second half. He also established a strong connection with tight end Max Klare, who caught six of eight targets for 133 yards, including a 62-yard connection on a double-reverse flea flicker in the third quarter and a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. Browne also finished with a team-high in rushing yards ahead of running back Devin Mockobee, who logged 11 carries for 102 rushing yards. With Hudson Card's status still up in the air, Browne may need to start again for the Boilermakers next week, though they'll be going up against the now No.1-ranked Oregon Ducks.
