Leaving Aggies for Golden Eagles Briggs will transfer to Southern Mississippi, the program announced.

Impact Briggs only managed to play in the opener this season for Utah State, rushing for 88 yards on nine carries while catching three passes for 38 yards. The tailback's best season came in 2023, when he amassed 420 yards and two touchdowns on 5.3 yards-per-carry. He'll have one season of eligibility remaining.

Will miss entire season Briggs has been ruled out for the entire 2024 season, Trent Wood of The Deseret reports.

Impact Briggs suffered the leg injury in the Week 1 contest against Robert Morris, and he won't return for the rest of the campaign. He has already undergone surgery, though, so he's slated to start working on his recovery process very soon. Briggs was expected to play a significant role in Utah State's offense as part of a veteran and proven running back duo with Rahsul Faison. Instead, Jonathan Baird and Corbin Cottle are expected to have larger roles out of the backfield going forward.

Impact As was the case last season, Briggs split carries with Rahsul Faison to open the 2024 campaign. However, Briggs was the more efficient back Saturday, leading the team in rushing yards despite having three fewer carries than Faison. Perhaps most notable was Briggs' usage in the passing game -- he's already set a new season high in receiving yards after catching just six passes for 38 yards last year.

Impact Briggs returned to action after missing the Aggies' regular season finale, logging three carries in Saturday's loss to the Panthers. The 5-foot-6 sophomore continues to stay involved for the Aggies in his second season with the program, closing out the 2023 season with 80 carries for 420 yards and two touchdowns.

Impact Briggs' status for Utah State's bowl game is unclear after he missed the team's last two games. Previously, he had played in all 10 games in which he logged 353 rushing yards and one touchdown on 74 carries as the backup to Calvin Tyler. Jordan Wilmore rushed 10 times for 36 yards over the last two games in replace of Briggs.
