Samuel Brown V - Scores twice in narrow winBrown tallied 14 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 26-23 win versus Virginia Tech.
ImpactBrown returned to action after missing the Scarlet Knights' previous game two weeks ago with an undisclosed injury. The 222-pound junior slotted right back into a siginificant role behind senior Kyle Monangai, who logged 26 carries for 84 yards and one score Saturday. Brown logged his first two touchdowns of the season, first on a three-yard scoring plunge late in the first quarter followed by a five-yard run early in the third quarter. So long as he remains healthy, Brown should continue to see a healthy workload as the RB2 in what is an extremely run-heavy Rutgers offense. The Scarlet Knights will look to keep things rolling on the ground during this Friday's matchup against Washington.

Kyle Monangai - Smaller output versus VA TechMonangai notched 26 carries for 84 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 26-23 victory against Virginia Tech.
ImpactMonangai continued to carry a massive workload for the Scarlet Knights' ground-and-pound offense. The 209-pound senior had a tougher time against the Hokies than he did in the previous two outings against Howard and Akron. He got Rutgers on the board with a one-yard touchdown plunge in the first quarter, but he was subbed out for the team's other two rushing touchdowns -- both of which went to No. 2 running back Samuel Brown. Monangai also failed to eclipse 100 rushing yards after doing so in his previous four games extending back to last season. He'll look to return to his dominant form during this coming Friday's matchup versus Washington, which allowed just 59 yards on 26 rushing attempts against Northwestern in Week 4.
