Jaden Smith - Doesn't play ThursdaySmith (lower body) didn't play in Thursday's game against Sam Houston State.
ImpactThe wideout will aim to recover in time to face Western Kentucky on Oct. 10. He's been putting up solid numbers in 2024, racking up 21 catches for 177 yards across four appearances, but he's yet to find the end zone.
OCTOBER 4ā€¢ROTOWIRE
Kenny Odom - Nets 70 yardsOdom caught four passes for 70 yards versus Sam Houston on Thursday.
ImpactOdom already has more yards and as many touchdowns as he had in 10 games with Austin Peay last season. He has to fight with Kam Thomas for touches and targets, but Thomas has been more of a possession receiver, while Odom brings the big plays fantasy players like.
OCTOBER 4ā€¢ROTOWIRE
Kam Thomas - Involved in run gameThomas caught five passes for 31 yards and had six carries for 26 yards versus Sam Houston on Thursday.
ImpactThomas is clearly a guy who UTEP's coaches want touching the ball. He's got 31 catches already, and now he has eight carries as well. Thomas also returns kicks and punts. Opportunity is always a big part of success, but fantasy-minded folks will want to see more production.
OCTOBER 4ā€¢ROTOWIRE
Ezell Jolly - Rushes for TDJolly ran 17 times for 76 yards and a touchdown against Sam Houston on Thursday, but he lost a fumble.
ImpactAs a freshman last season, Jolly was limited to four games due to injury. He was "healthy" to start this season, but played one snap in the opener and then did not see the field again until this game. Well, now healthy, Jolly comfortably got the most carries of any UTEP back.
OCTOBER 4ā€¢ROTOWIRE
Cade McConnell - Doesn't surge into starting roleMcConnell went 15-for-28 for 204 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against Sam Houston on Thursday. He also lost a fumble.
ImpactMcConnell, who started late last season for the Miners, lost his gig when new head coach Scotty Walden opted for his own recruit Skyler Locklear. Locklear didn't cut it, and McConnell played well in relief last time around, so he got the start here. It was not a remarkable day, and it is a concern that he's already fumbled three times this season.
OCTOBER 4ā€¢ROTOWIRE
Michael Phoenix II - Finds end zonePhoenix caught two passes for 37 yards and a score Thursday versus UTEP.
ImpactPhoenix has two touchdowns this season. On the other hand, he has four catches. That tells us more about Phoenix's role than his TDs.
OCTOBER 4ā€¢ROTOWIRE
Qua'Vez Humphreys - Involved offensively againHumphreys caught two passes for 47 yards and a touchdown versus UTEP on Thursday.
ImpactHumphreys started the season well, but in each of Sam Houston's last two games he was held without a reception. Sure, he got back in the end zone here, but he only had two catches. That's not enough to assuage and alleviate all concerns.
