Marquez Cooper - Continues to lead rushing attackCooper totaled 22 rushes for 87 yards and hauled in 1 of 2 targets for one yard during Saturday's 31-10 loss to California.
ImpactThrough three weeks, Cooper has separated himself as the bell cow in San Diego State's backfield -- no other running back saw more than three carries Saturday. After posting three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons between Kent State and Ball State, Cooper is well on his way to topping that mark again in his first season with the Aztecs. He's up to 363 yards with two touchdowns on 62 carries this year. With San Diego State struggling to move the ball through the air, Cooper could see an even larger role going forward.

Javance Tupou’ata-Johnson - Struggles in debutTupou'ata-Johnson completed 13 of 29 passes for 156 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in Saturday's 31-10 loss to California.
ImpactWith Danny O'Neil (knee) sidelined, Tupou'ata-Johnson was tasked with his first collegiate start in a tough matchup with Cal. It did not go well for the true freshman, who threw a pair of interceptions though he managed to boost his final line with a 40-yard touchdown throw to Jordan Napier in the fourth quarter. If O'Neil can suit up next week against Central Michigan, expect Tupou'ata-Johnson to return to a backup role.

Jaydn Ott - Observed not wearing padsOtt was observed no longer wearing his jersey during the first quarter of Saturday's game against San Diego State, Rivals.com reports.
ImpactAfter suiting up and participating during pregame warmups, it appeared Ott was heading towards being active for this matchup, as he was seen out of his pads and jersey on the sideline before the team's second drive. In his absence, Jaivian Thomas should see an expanded role.
