Impact Unsurprisingly, Thomas did not play during Duke's bowl game about a week after he announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. The running back did just that, as proven by his Tennessee commitment in mid-January. UT's team has lost Dylan Sampson due to his professional aspirations, leaving the Vols needing a new RB1. Even with DeSean Bishop and Peyton Lewis expected to provide stern resistance, Thomas is poised for the role. This comes after Duke's 2024 season, during which he logged over 1,000 all-purpose yards and eight touchdowns, both easily his career highs.

Enters transfer portal Thomas has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal, Pete Nakos of On3.com reports.

Impact Thomas will depart from Duke this offseason after spending one season with the Blue Devils. The 6-foot senior tallied 213 carries for 871 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground, along with 20 receptions for 153 yards and one touchdown through the air. It is unclear if Thomas intends to compete in Duke's bowl game against Mississippi on Jan. 2, but he will be a hot commodity in the transfer portal regardless.
