Leads bowl victory in relief Morgan completed four of seven passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns during Thursday's 28-20 win against Syracuse.

Impact Morgan opened the game as the Gophers No. 2 quarterback behind freshman Athan Kaliakmanis, who took control of the team's starting job after Morgan missed the final three games of the season with a concussion. However, the sixth-year senior was called upon after Kaliakmanis went down with a lower-body injury in the second quarter. Morgan then completed the Gophers' second scoring drive of the game with a 20-yard pass into the end zone to wide receiver Daniel Jackson. The graduate signal-caller finished out remainder of his final collegiate game under center for the Golden Gophers. With the longtime starter's eligibility fully exhausted, Morgan ends his Minnesota career second in program history for both career passing yards (9,454) and passing touchdowns (65). It will be worth monitoring Kaliakmanis' injury status given that he'll likely come into 2023 spring practices as the team's starting quarterback.

Impact Morgan missed each of the Golden Gophers' last three games to close out the regular season due to the concussion, allowing redshirt freshman Athan Kaliakmanis to step in under center. Though Morgan, a sixth-year senior, has been the Gophers' longtime starter when healthy, he had endured a disappointing campaign prior to suffering the injury and may now be viewed as the No. 2 option. In his 10 appearances this season, Kaliakmanis has completed 52 percent of his throws for 8.5 yards per attempt, three touchdowns and four interceptions while adding 151 yards and a score on 32 carries.

The longtime starter tossed an interception on a pass deflected behind the line of scrimmage before having a would-be touchdown pass intercepted due to a bobbled catch. Morgan also turned the ball over with his final pass of the game late in the fourth quarter, and he'll likely need an efficient running game in order to succeed moving forward this season.

Impact Morgan completed a season-high 88.5 percent of his passes despite tossing more than 25 passes for just the third time in the past two seasons. The graduate senior's production actually increased after losing No. 1 wideout Chris Autman-Bell (lower leg) to a season-ending injury last week, as he completed passes to 10 Golden Gophers' pass catchers Saturday. Morgan has produced a 7:1 TD:INT ratio while averaging 11.2 yards per attempt this season, and he should continue to hit explosive passes in Minnesota's downhill rushing and passing attack.

The graduate senior once again served a minimal role in offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca's run-heavy scheme that has heavily featured running back Mohamed Ibrahim this season, as he accounted for 23 of the team's 52 total carries and 202 of the team's 334 total rushing yards against the Buffaloes. Morgan's overall production may take somewhat of a hit moving forward, however, with No. 1 wideout Chris Autman-Bell set to miss the remainder of the 2022 season due to a lower body injury.
