Max Johnson - Positioned for QB battle Coach Jimbo Fisher said Thursday that Johnson will compete with Haynes King and Conner Weigman for the starting role at quarterback, Zach Taylor of WTAW 1620 Radio reports. Impact Johnson transferred from LSU to Texas A&M and in December, and it's not much of a surprise he's immediately in the starting mix. He completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 2,815 yards with 27 touchdowns and six interceptions for the Tigers last season, so he should be the favorite to open 2022 under center for the Aggies. However, King, who began last season as the starter before getting hurt, and Weigman, a four-star freshman, remain in the picture for now.
