SaRodorick Thompson - Cleared for contactThompson (shoulder) has been cleared for contact in practice, Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
ImpactThompson underwent shoulder surgery in April and was held out of Saturday's season opener as a result. Coach Matt Wells didn't indicate Sunday whether the running back will be available for Saturday's game against Stephen F. Austin, but the junior appears to be trending in the right direction.

Christian Trahan - Nabs six catchesTrahan caught six passes for 42 yards against Texas Tech.
ImpactThe 6-foot-3 tight end set a new career high in receptions with six of them in the team's first game of the season. Trahan appears to be locked in as the team's starting tight end this season and a strong first game bodes well for him going forward.

Nathaniel Dell - Turns in solid performanceDell caught seven passes for 80 yards and caught a receiving touchdown while rushing one time for five yards against Texas Tech.
ImpactAfter finishing the season on a strong note, the sophomore receiver extended a streak of catching at least six passes to three games Saturday. Dell was the only receiver with more than 50 yards on the team and appears to be the go-to-guy for quarterback Clayton Tune. The 5-foot-10 receiver will look to continue his strong play next week against Rice.

Mulbah Car - Struggles on the groundCar carried the ball 13 times for 37 yards and caught two pases for seven yards against Texas Tech.
ImpactThe senior running back could not get anything going in the team's loss to Texas Tech. Car averaged just 2.8 yards per carry and failed to find the end zone as well. On a positive note no other running back garnered more than four carries so it does seem like the back field duties will be mainly held by Car this season.

Clayton Tune - Inefficient dayTune completed 27 of 38 pass attempts for 174 yards to go two passing touchdowns with 28 rushing yards on 13 attempts while scoring on the ground. The quarterback also threw four i...
ImpactIt was not the best day for the Junior quarterback as he turned the ball over four times in the loss. Tune was able to muster three total scores but the quarterback still needs to work on protecting the ball after throwing 10 interceptions in eight games last year. The 6-foot-3 quarterback will look to get back on the right track next week against Rice.

Jonathan Garibay - Makes FG in win over HoustonGaribay connected on a 34-yard field goal in Saturday's 38-21 win at Houston.
ImpactGaribay was also a perfect 5-for-5 on extra-point attempts as he enters the 2021 season as the Red Raiders top kicker. In 2020, he was 8-for-11 on field goal attempts. Texas Tech will play Stephen F. Austin next week.
