Impact Huff's passing numbers on the year are reasonable, with 11 touchdowns against five picks, but he's the starting QB because of his running skills. To that end, he now has 902 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground, while remarkably only losing one fumble.

Sloppy, but effective Huff went 14-for-31 for 200 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception against La Tech on Saturday. He also ran 17 times for 42 yards and a touchdown, but also lost a fumble.

Impact This was a mixed bag, to be sue. However, it is important to note Huff is not turnover prone. This was his first lost fumble, and also his first interception in five games. His three touchdowns and his rushing yards balance things out a bit.

Leads offense in victory Huff (leg) was 6-for-10 passing for 95 yards during Wednesday's 31-21 win against Liberty. He also had 20 rushes for 130 yards.

Impact Huff previously sufferred a minor leg injury in last week's 42-20 victory over Middle Tennessee State, but most signs pointed to the senior quarterback taking the field against Liberty. Huff didn't look too hampered by the injury against the Flames, completing 60 percent of his passes and running for 130 yards on the day. Though he was held without a score, Huff helped move the offense throughout the day, putting them in position to put points on the board and secure the victory over Liberty. His next test will come when the Gamecocks travel to face Louisiana Tech next Saturday.

Spotted warming up Huff (leg) was seen warming up ahead of Jacksonville State's clash with Liberty, ASeaofRed.com reports.

Impact Huff appears to be giving it a go in warm-ups, which checks out considering he was expected to play. It remains to be seen if the gunslinger will get the start, but that's what all signs are pointing to ahead of kickoff.

Impact Huff, who tallied 137 yards (10-of-18) and one touchdown through the air, along with 151 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in a rout of the Blue Raiders, sustained "a little twinge" in his leg against MTSU. Despite this minor leg injury, Huff, is not expected to miss any time and will likely suit up against Liberty in Week 10. Huff has been a dominant force for Jacksonville State (4-3) this season, throwing for 1,406 yards (99-of-152), eight touchdowns and four interceptions, adding on a whopping 654 rushing yards and seven touchdowns with his legs. If Huff is ultimately unable to go next week, Logan Smothers would likely be the next man up for the Gamecocks.

Impact Rich Rodriguez's offense is built around the run game, and around having a quarterback who can do damage with his legs. Huff certainly is that. Though he has only thrown for eight touchdowns through seven games, on the ground he's total 654 yards and eight scores, and that's why he is the starting quarterback for the Gamecocks.

Impact That makes two games in a row with three touchdowns for Huff. While he's only thrown for over 200 yards twice this season, his role in the run game is legitimate. Over his last five games Huff has run the ball 71 times for 492 yards and six scores.

Runs all over KSU Huff went 16-for-25 for 193 yards against Kennesaw State on Friday. He also ran 15 times for 176 yards and three touchdowns.

Impact The passing game was just used to keep the Owls honest, but the Gamecocks were running all over the opposition all night. Huff transferred in from Furman and has proven the perfect fit for Rich Rodriguez's offense. Not only has he run for at least 77 yards in each of his last four games, but Huff has not fumbled once in those games either.

Impact At FCS Furman, Huff was a high-level running quarterback, so it's clear to see why Rich Rodriguez was intrigued in having him at Jacksonville State. He won the starting gig, and he's been really tearing it up on the ground. Over his last three games he's run 43 times for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

SEPTEMBER 21 • ROTOWIRE

Throws two TDs Huff went 23-for-34 for 311 yards and two touchdowns against EMU on Saturday. He also ran 14 times for 80 yards.

Impact Now, this game did go into double overtime, so the stats got boosted a bit. Even so, Huff had his best game so far with JSU. At this point, even when Logan Smothers (undisclosed) is healthy enough to return, Huff may remain the starter.

SEPTEMBER 14 • ROTOWIRE

Totals two TDs as clear starter Huff went 17-for-27 for 160 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against Louisville on Saturday. He also ran 18 times for 101 yards and a score.

Impact In JSU's opener, Huff, a transfer from Furman, and returning Gamecock Logan Smothers had roughly equal playing time. Smothers didn't get a single opportunity to throw the ball in this one, though, so Huff seems to have won the quarterback battle...for now.

Throws TD, two INTs Huff went 7-for-14 for 173 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against Coastal Carolina on Thursday. He also ran five times for 11 yards.

Impact Huff transferred in from Furman to compete for the starting gig. It seems like a true competition, as Logan Smothers, who saw real action for JSU last year, got roughly the same number of snaps. Neither did well enough to really earn the job outright, though, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the timeshare continue.

Co-starting with Smothers, Turner Huff is listed as a co-starter with Logan Smothers on Jacksonville State's initial depth chart.

Impact Huff, the Furman transfer, has battled valiantly this offseason with Smothers, the incumbent quarterback, as well as Zion Turner. It appears as if this position battle will need to carry over into the season, and all three should see time against Costal Carolina in the opener.
