Anthony Colandrea - Still starting quarterback Colandrea will be the Cavaliers' starting quarterback for their game Saturday against SMU, Virginia reporter Mike Barber reports.

Impact Even with a string of bad performances lately, Colandrea remains the Cavaliers' preferred quarterback under center going into their upcoming game. Weeks 4 to 8 saw a nice run in which he completed 69 passes for 748 yards and six touchdowns without any interceptions. The script flipped in Week 9, resulting in a three-performance span with only one touchdown and seven interceptions.

Jaden Gibson - Suffers hamstring injury Gibson (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury at practice Tuesday, putting his status for Saturday's game against SMU in question, Jacquie Franciulli of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact Gibson has hauled in 10 receptions for 91 yards across 10 games this season, building upon his production from the 2023-24 season. The 6-foot sophomore's status for Saturday's game against SMU has yet to be updated since going down at practice, but it will be monitored heading into Saturday's game.

Malachi Fields - Leafing receiver in blowout loss Fields posted four receptions (on seven targets) for 81 yards during Saturday's 35-14 defeat versus Notre Dame.

Impact Fields was Virginia's top pass-catcher in its lopsided loss to the Irish. Given the abysmal play of starter Anthony Colandrea, it's somewhat of a miracle the wideout managed to salvage his day with four grabs for 81 yards. This Cavaliers' passing offense should be avoided at all costs from a fantasy perspective, however.

Kobe Pace - Once again surpassed by Brown Pace recorded six carries for 31 yards and caught 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 35-14 defeat against Notre Dame.

Impact Pace was once again out-paced in snaps by Xavier Brown, who appears to have taken over the lead back role for the Cavaliers. Pace's six carries were his second-fewest this season, and the tailback appears to be taking a backseat in the running back room.

Anthony Colandrea - Miserable showing leads to benching Colandrea was 8-for-21 passing for 69 yards and three interceptions during Saturday's 35-14 defeat to Notre Dame. He also had four rushes for 23 yards.

Impact Colandrea and the Virginia offense couldn't get anything going in the first half against Notre Dame. But to make matters worse, he ended the half with three straight interceptions, prompting the Cavaliers to bench him for Tony Muskett. Muskett wasn't electrifying, but he protected the football and scored twice with his legs. Colandrea's job as the starting quarterback in Charlottesville is far from secure.

Tony Muskett - Iffy in relief of Colandrea Muskett completed 9 of 14 passes for 103 yards during Saturday's 35-14 loss against Notre Dame. He also had five rushes for nine yards with two touchdowns.

Impact Muskett entered the game in the second half for Virginia after starter Anthony Colandrea closed the half with three straight interceptions. Muskett at least protected the football and ran for two scores, but the game was essentially over by the time he was inserted. Given the starting quarterback's miserable performance, there could very feasibly be a quarterback controversy for the Cavaliers.
