Jayden de Laura has been leading Arizona's quarterback competition early in the offseason, and Plummer's recovery timetable of 4-6 months makes him a long shot to begin the 2022 campaign as the starter under center.

To see playing time in opener Plummer will see playing time in the opener against BYU but Gunner Cruz will start, Ryan Kelapire of SBNation reports.

Impact Coach Jedd Fisch announced Tuesday that Cruz would get the first series but added that Plummer would see playing time as well. Fisch also stated that quarterbacks could rotate during drives instead of switching off. It's unclear how long into the season Arizona will stick to the quarterback rotation.
