Mertz managed to notch the Badgers' first score with a one-yard quarterback sneak to pull the game within 28-7 midway through the second quarter. The junior also converted a two-yard passing touchdown on a play-action pass in the fourth quarter, and he'll have a chance to bounce back during next week's home matchup against Illinois.
