Splitting first-team reps Wilcke split first-team reps with QB Ty Keyes during Tuesday's practice, David Eckert of The Hattiesburg American reports.
Impact With Keyes sidelined during the team's Week 2 contest against Miami with an undisclosed injury, Wilcke stepped in as the Golden Eagles' starting quarterback and completed 16 of 27 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the 30-7 loss to the Hurricanes. If Wilcke is indeed called upon to make a second consecutive start, he'll compete against an exploitable Northwestern State defense, as they've allowed 47 points to both of their opponents this season. Expect Southern Miss to name their starting QB on Wednesday.
