Bid for first win slips away Novak had to settle for a share of third place after shooting a four-over 76 in the final round of the Valero Texas Open. Impact Novak was the main challenger to Brian Harman for much of the final round, but ultimately just made too many mistakes in his bid for his first victory on Tour. Novak started with birdies on two of the first five holes, but closed on the front with bogeys on three of four holes. It wasn't much better on the back-nine as he birdied the par-5 14th, but made bogeys at 13, 15, 17 and 18 to slide down to T3. Harman's experience just seemed to win out and he didn't make the same number of mistakes as Novak. This was still a big week for Novak who was able to recover after not cracking the top-30 in his last five starts. He will move up to 26th in the FedExCup standings, but he needed a win to make it to The Masters next week. We'll see Novak come back the following week at the RBC Heritage, however.
