Second straight top-three finish Kirk carded an eight-under 64 in the final round of the American Express to finish in a share of third place.

Impact After a rocky fall, Kirk has now begun his 2023 calendar year with two straight top-three results. Unlike last week at Waialae, Kirk was not really much of a factor for most of the event, but the veteran was able to catch fire at the harder Stadium Course over the weekend and turn that into a strong finish. Kirk notched 17 birdies against no bogeys in his 36 holes on the Stadium Course. He now sits 23rd in the FedExCup standings, though he won't play at the Farmers Insurance Open next week.

Much needed third in Hawaii Kirk closed with a two-under 68 on Sunday at the Sony Open in Hawaii to finish in solo third place.

Impact Kirk had a pretty disappointing fall, but looked much more like his normal self this week in Hawaii. This is a course that he has solid history on and he was very comfortable right out of the gate. Kirk came into the final round two back of the lead, but was just even-par through the first 12 holes. Birdies at 13 and 14 helped him get back into the game, but a sloppy bogey on 17 pretty much ended those hopes. Kirk ranked fifth in SG: Approach and eighth in SG: Tee-to-Green for the event, but only hit 30-of-56 fairways at Waialae. The thicker bermuda rough this year didn't help his cause. Kirk will tee it up at the American Express next week.
