Surges with Sunday 66 Matsuyama fired a final round six-under 66 at The Masters Tournament to finish in a share of 21st place.

Impact Matsuyama's closing round tied for the low round of the day which was highlighted by four front-nine birdies, with his only dropped shot coming on the 72nd hole. He was led by his iron play as he hit 81 percent of greens in regulation for the tournament. The result breaks a stretch of back-to-back missed cuts and is Matsuyama's fourth top-25 across his last six events although he only has one top-10 for the year.

Misses second straight cut Matsuyama missed the cut at the Valero Texas Open by three strokes following rounds of 73-72.

Impact This is the second straight missed cut for Matsuyama after he failed to make the weekend at THE PLAYERS Championship a few weeks ago. The reason Matsuyama missed the cut at TPC San Antonio was due to the putter where he lost nearly 3.5 strokes in two rounds. That is now his fourth time in the last five starts in which he has lost strokes on the green. That came after a strong run at the tail end of last season and early this season on the greens. Matsuyama will try to find something at The Masters where he has made 10 straight cuts with eight top-20s in that stretch. Of course he won the green jacket back in 2021.

T4 in scrambling at Bay Hill Matsuyama closed with a three-under 69 on Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to finish even-par and tied for 22nd.

Impact Matsuyama ranked T4 among the field in GIR while also converting four of five scrambling opportunities during Sunday's final round at Bay Hill, where he ultimately finished third in SG: Around-the-Green and T4 in scrambling. However, he's uncharacteristically lost strokes on approach in three of four starts dating to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Nonetheless, Matsuyama will peg it again this week at THE PLAYERS Championship where he placed T6-5 the past two years.

Impact Matsuyama was the defending winner of this signature event, albeit on a different golf course. He was still able to put in a solid finish coming after a couple of just okay finishes in recent weeks. What certainly stuck out at Torrey Pines was that Matsuyama was fifth in SG: Putting, but he was just 33rd in SG: Off-the-Tee and 38th in SG: Approach. He will look to get his swing more dialed in for the upcoming Florida Swing.

Ties for 48th at Pebble Beach Matsuyama carded a one-under 71 on Sunday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to finish seven-under and tied for 48th.

Impact Matsuyama carded just two final-round birdies at Pebble Beach on Sunday, ultimately hitting just nine of 18 greens in regulation while also losing 2.156 strokes with the putter. He finished the event ranked 62nd in both SG: Off-the-Tee and SG: Approach, marking his worst measured ball-striking performance in more than a calendar year. Matsuyama will look to get back on track this week at the WM Phoenix Open where he notched back-to-back victories in 2016 and 2017.

Impact Matsuyama was looking for another good showing in San Diego after a strong Hawaii Swing. He got off to a strong start with a 68 in round one, but went 75-70-76 the rest of the way to log a middling finish. Matsuyama led the field in SG: Approach, but was 55th in SG: Off-the-Tee and T52 in scrambling. You would expect him to get back on track in both areas at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am next week.
