Impact Griffin joins the field ahead of Thursday's opening tee time at Waialae Country Club following Michael Thorbjornsen's (undisclosed) withdrawal. Griffin is a perfect 4-for-4 in career cuts made at the Sony Open in Hawaii, notably placing seventh here in 2020 when he gained five strokes from tee to green and another 3.6 strokes with the flat stick.

Impact Griffin underwent back surgery last August after dealing with a nerve issue for some time. His first start back was actually a T66 finish at the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour. He then returned to the PGA Tour and finished T37 at the Farmers Insurance Open. After a long week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Griffin likely just needs to give his back a reset before going into the long haul.
