Impact Echavarria posted a five-under 65 in the final round, which was tied for the best round of the day. It included eight birdies, with two of them coming in the last three holes. Taylor played with Echavarria on Sunday and was able to match him at 16-under-par with a chip-in eagle on the 72nd hole. It set up another playoff at the Sony Open. Both players would make birdie on the first extra hole. Echavarria looked to be in an advantageous situation on the second extra hole with Taylor in a fairway bunker. The Colombian put his second shot to the par-5 18th just off the back of the green, while Taylor was in a tricky spot inside of 50 yards. Taylor stepped up an hit a very clutch shot, while Echavarria left his eagle putt well short. With the wind whipping, Echavarria just pushed his birdie putt to the right and Taylor just had to clean up for the win. It will certainly sting a bit for Echavarria who also just missed victories at the WWT Championship and RSM Classic last fall following a win at the ZOZO Championship. The 30-year-old clearly has a lot of game and will look to keep putting his name in the hat in 2025.
