Runner-up in Vallarta Valimaki closed with a final round two-under 69 at the Mexico Open, finishing two shots behind champion Jake Knapp.
Impact Valimaki began the day with a four-shot deficit but was able to tie the lead following an eagle on the par-4 seventh hole. The momentum stalled from there, however, as he played his next six holes in one-over. Heading into the closing par-5 18th hole trailing by two, any hopes were dashed when Valimaki's tee-shot found the penalty area. Nevertheless, it was an excellent week for the 25-year-old rookie, who hadn't previously posted a top-20 on the PGA Tour.

Finishes red-hot in Phoenix Open Valimaki turned in a final-round 64 to jump into a tie for 41st place in the Phoenix Open.
Impact The 25-year-old from Finland hasn't made much noise yet in America, but he's racked up several wins all over the globe in a short period of time, including a recent win at the Qatar Masters. After missing the cut at the Sony Open and the American Express, he's shown incremental improvement with cashes at Pebble Beach and Scottsdale. Valamaki's 64 on Sunday was one of the best rounds of the week.

In field for WM Phoenix Open Valimaki is in the field for the WM Phoenix Open, according to the PGA.
Impact For undisclosed reasons, Patrick Rodgers withdrew from the WM Phoenix Open on Monday. Rodgers' withdrawal left an open spot for Valimaki to enter the field. Following his entry, Robert MacIntyre is now the first alternate should anybody else also withdraw.
